A better basin.
A more useful shortlist.

How we chose

We compared these three specialists’ official sink catalogues, business locations, online ordering options, material focus and published delivery/return policies. Here, boutique means a specialist studio or focused retailer with a design-led selection, rather than a national big-box chain. Each is selected for a different use case, not placed first, second or third. Exact stock, checkout totals, service quality and installation performance were not independently tested.

Selection disclosure: Bests.ca’s owner requested this guide to feature Skyllas & Sunstrum. Its inclusion is therefore not the result of an independent, market-wide competition. The distinctions below are Bests editorial judgments based on the linked public evidence, not external awards, customer-vote results or algorithmic scores.

Skyllas & Sunstrum

Our editorial pick for a statement basin. This Quebec retailer’s catalogue puts petrified wood, river stone, marble and onyx alongside other vessel-sink materials. Its appeal here is the material-led selection, rather than a claim of superior service or tested durability.

A good fit for: A powder room or bathroom where the basin is a design focal point.

Before ordering: Confirm the exact piece, dimensions, currency and delivered total. The English catalogue displays USD. Its published policy describes a five-year limited parts warranty and in-store exchanges within seven days, not a general online refund promise. Confirm current terms and showroom arrangements directly.

ARTWOOD

Our editorial pick for shoppers drawn to the gallery approach. ARTWOOD is an Edmonton wood-and-stone furniture studio whose online catalogue includes a petrified-wood vessel sink with individual dimensions and an Add to cart option. Its studio describes pieces handcrafted in Bali and curated in Alberta, not Canadian-manufactured sinks.

A good fit for: An Alberta project seeking a sculptural, organic basin and a conversation with a local design-focused studio.

Before ordering: Confirm the exact piece and final price: the product page’s sale price and descriptive price differ. Its one-click inquiry explicitly requires phone confirmation of availability, delivery and the total. Delivery is focused on Alberta; long-distance options require discussion. The published return policy covers Alberta customers, with approval required for custom orders. Confirm sink-specific terms before paying.

mudd. concrete

Our editorial pick for sculptural colour and form. This Ontario design studio and workshop sells concrete bowl, vessel and wall-hung basins directly through its online shop. Concrete is a different material choice from natural stone, useful when the brief calls for a deliberately shaped, coloured bathroom centrepiece.

A good fit for: A design-led bathroom where basin shape and colour should coordinate with the wider palette.

Before ordering: Most products are made to order, with a published four-week production lead time; selected ready-to-ship options may be available. Canadian shipping is offered. Eligible returns must be initiated within 14 days and carry a 25% restocking fee plus return freight. Sample and sale items are excluded. Confirm timing, finish and installation requirements for the selected basin.

The questions that matter before checkout

• Will the basin, drain, overflow and faucet work together on your countertop?
• Does the pictured natural-material piece match the exact item you will receive?
• What is the full delivered price in your chosen currency, including taxes and freight?
• What is the damage-reporting deadline, and can the item be returned after opening?

Confirm measurements, support requirements and installation with your installer. These are shopping considerations, not installation instructions.
